Sculptra® in Baltimore, MD
As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen, the elastic that holds our skin in place. Sculptra® treatments by fellowship-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Steven J. Rottman work to correct deep
facial folds and wrinkles and provide a more youthful appearance to men and women in Baltimore, MD, and surrounding communities.
What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is the first facial injectable that gives you subtle, but noticeable, results over time. Although results are not immediate, and you may need several treatments, Sculptra® is unlike some injectables that are temporary facial fillers. Sculptra® helps restore lost collagen — restoring the structure under the skin — for smoother skin and fuller volume that can last for two or more years.
Benefits of Sculptra® Treatment
Sculptra® is a safe and synthetic material used to restore volume in areas where it has been lost by helping the body produce its own natural collagen. Because Sculptra® is a relatively thick substance, the plumping effect can last up to two years — significantly longer than most other dermal fillers.

Sculptra® is injected into the skin in the area you wish to produce collagen and soften deep wrinkles and lines. Depending on your specific case, you may receive one or more injections. A topical anesthetic may be used to maximize your comfort.
Preparing for Sculptra® Treatment
Because Sculptra® treatments are of a non-surgical in nature, there is no special preparation. The short appointment will fit easily into your schedule. The procedure is virtually painless, and you may return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
Recovery from Sculptra® Treatment
You may have some mild symptoms after your Sculptra® treatment such as swelling or bruising. These symptoms last anywhere from a few hours to a few days and are localized around the injection sites.
Results will not appear right away, although it may seem like there are immediate improvements because of the swelling. The swelling will subside and you may notice that your injection site looks the same as it did pre-treatment. This is normal. Sculptra® takes several months to produce results, and another injection may be necessary. Results, when they do show, are very noticeable and can last up to two years.
How Much Does Sculptra® Treatment Cost?
Sculptra® treatments vary in cost depending on the amount of product needed and the number of treatments for full improvement. Rottman Plastic Surgery offers convenient financing through CareCredit®, and you can learn more on our financing page.
Is Sculptra® Treatment Right for Me?
Sculptra® is an excellent way to treat lines and wrinkles on all parts of the face including the forehead, around the eyes, lips, between the mouth and nose, and cheeks. Sculptra® will add volume to areas that have become hollow or ‘baggy’ as evidenced by rings around the eyes, cheeks, lips, and folds around the chin. It is a great treatment for those wishing to avoid surgery.
