Breast Surgery in Baltimore, MD

A woman’s breasts play an important role in more than her appearance. Having breasts that are too small or large, or having a failed breast enhancement surgery, can make a woman feel less feminine and confident.

What is Breast Surgery?

Breast surgery is a phrase used among plastic surgeons to describe a variety of surgeries that enhance the shape and size of the breasts. Dr. Rottman may recommend breast surgery to improve the overall proportions of your body. Breast surgery also includes breast reduction which can help with the discomfort associated with having overly large breasts.

Preparing for Breast Surgery

Breast surgery is an extensive procedure for both men and women. Some general considerations prior to your surgery are the following:

  • Changes in your clothing sizes
  • Transportation to and from your surgical appointment
  • At-home care during recovery
  • Out-of-pocket expenses

Recovery from Breast Surgery

The most important part of your recovery from breast surgery is rest. You will need to give your body time to heal. You will need to avoid activities for a period of time, and exercise is also restricted. We provide you with more specific instructions before you are released after surgery.

You should expect to have some symptoms after breast surgery, such as bruising, swelling, and mild to moderate discomfort. Dr. Rottman may prescribe medications so you remain comfortable and relaxed.

How Much Does Breast Surgery Cost?

Your breast surgery is most likely not covered by your medical insurance. If you need help with the cost of your breast surgery, Rottman Plastic Surgery works with CareCredit®, a company that specializes in financing options for healthcare and cosmetic treatments. Is Breast Surgery Right for Me?

Because breast surgery requires general anesthesia, you should be in good health prior to the surgery. Dr. Rottman may review your primary care medical records and order some diagnostic tests. You should also have realistic expectations of your breast enhancement, including recovery and healing. Dr. Rottman will fully discuss this during your consultation.
