More and more men are undergoing plastic surgery to improve their bodies. Liposuction gives men the advantage they need to have a sexy, masculine body.
Double board certified and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Steven J. Rottman helps the men of Baltimore, MD, and surrounding communities eliminate unwanted, stubborn fat with liposuction.
Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the country. The procedure is effective for removing stubborn fat deposits that cannot be fixed with diet and exercise alone. Liposuction techniques have changed significantly in recent years. Dr. Rottman uses the most advanced methods to carefully remove fat and sculpt the natural contours you work so hard to achieve.
Liposuction offers the following benefits to men:

The incisions for liposuction are very small. In fact, after you heal, the scars can barely be seen, if at all. Once Dr. Rottman makes the incision, a special tube known as a “cannula” is inserted through the incision. The cannula is used to break apart and vacuum the fat layer that lies beneath the skin. A vacuum pump or large syringe is then used to suction out the loosened fat.
Liposuction is not intended to replace a healthy diet and exercise routine. Men who are interested in liposuction should be in good overall health. Dr. Rottman may recommend you change your lifestyle if you are not within a healthy weight for your age and body style.
Following your surgery it is normal to have some swelling and fluid retention. A small drainage tube may be inserted beneath the skin to prevent fluid buildup and a compression garment should be worn to reduce swelling. You will be able to see a noticeable difference in the shape of your body soon after your surgery and you will be able to fully enjoy your new, sleeker contours after about three months.
The scars from liposuction are small and strategically placed to be hidden from view. Liposuction can permanently reduce your fatty tissue if you are committed to eating well and engaging in physical activity. However, significant weight gain can reverse the results of the procedure.
Dr. Rottman uses only the most advanced liposuction techniques for his patients. Your medical insurance will not cover the cost, so you need to plan on paying for the full cost yourself. If you need to finance your liposuction treatments, you may be approved through CareCredit®.
Liposuction is recommended for men who have stubborn areas of fat on their chests, abdomens, back, necks, and other areas. If you have certain medical conditions or are taking certain medications, Dr. Rottman may advise that liposuction is not right for you.
Contouring a man’s body with liposuction requires an in-depth understanding of which aspects are considered masculine. As an expert in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Rottman knows how to make your body look toned while maintaining a masculine appearance.
Our male patients typically have many questions for Dr. Rottman, usually because plastic surgery is less common among men than women. Your personal consultation with Dr. Rottman allows you the time to ask questions and gain the knowledge you need to make an informed decision about liposuction treatments.
