Restylane® RefyneTM, like other dermal fillers, uses hyaluronic acid (HA) to stimulate moisture retention. HA is a substance found in the body that gives skin cells their moisture and helps give skin a healthy glow.
As we age, HA production decreases and the skin loses its smooth texture resulting in an increase in wrinkles and folds including the deep folds around the nose and mouth. When injected, Restylane® RefyneTM supplies the skin with hyaluronic acid to add volume and create a smoother complexion with a diminished appearance of wrinkles and folds.
During the treatment, Restylane® RefyneTM is injected into the targeted areas using an ultra-fine needle. The number of injections depends on the severity of the skin imperfections. Although Restylane® RefyneTM contains lidocaine to prevent pain, a numbing cream may be applied to alleviate any anxiety and ensure no discomfort.
There is some immediate improvement following the injections with the full results visible over the next few weeks as hydration in the skin improves. Treatments take no more than an hour to complete.
Preparing for Restylane® RefyneTM
As with other injectable dermal fillers, there is no preparation for Restylane® RefyneTM.
Recovery from Restylane® RefyneTM
There is no downtime after Restylane® RefyneTM injections. Any slight redness or swelling at the injection site resolves itself by the following day. The results from Restylane® RefyneTM last between six and nine months.
