Breast Lift in Baltimore, MD

Pregnancy, weight loss, and aging cause a woman’s natural breasts to sag and hang down on the chest. Breast lift surgery by double board certified and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Steven J. Rottman helps the women of Baltimore, MD, and surrounding communities feel more confident by restoring the natural position of the breasts.

What Is a Breast Lift?

A woman’s breasts often change over time due to the effects of gravity and the loss of the skin’s natural elasticity. Having children, weight fluctuations, or aging can cause the breasts to lose their shape and firmness. By removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissues, a breast lift procedure (or mastopexy) can restore a youthful shape and contour. A breast lift can serve to reduce the size of enlarged areolas as well.

Benefits of a Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift surgery improves the volume of your breasts without implants. Additionally, the procedure corrects loose and stretched skin from your breasts and the surrounding area. Women who undergo breast lift surgery by Dr. Rottman feel more confident about their breasts.

Breast Lift Before and After Pictures

Many women are pleasantly surprised by how much a breast lift changes the way they look and feel. Even though the surgery does not change the size of the breasts, a significant improvement is made by improving the contour and shape. Seeing is believing, though. Our breast lift before and after pictures show you some of Dr. Rottman’s actual breast lift patients.

How Is a Breast Lift Performed?

Breast lift surgery can be achieved through a variety of incision patterns and techniques. Dr. Rottman will determine the most appropriate technique based on your breast size and shape, the size and location of your areolas, the degree of sagging, the amount of extra skin, and the skin’s quality and elasticity.

The three types of incisions typically used for a breast lift procedure are as follows:

  • Around the areola
  • Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
  • An anchor-shaped incision that goes around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the breast crease.

After your breasts are reshaped and excess skin is removed, the remaining skin is tightened and the incisions are closed.

Preparing for a Breast Lift

General anesthesia is required for your breast lift surgery. Dr. Rottman may review your medical records and order pre-surgical blood work prior to your surgery. Other pre-surgical preparations are discussed during your consultation.

Recovery from a Breast Lift

You will be given bandages and/or a support bra after your breast lift to help minimize swelling and support your new breast contour. The results of your breast lift surgery can be seen immediately. Over time, post-surgical swelling will resolve and the incision lines will fade and significantly diminish.

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?

Each woman has different needs for her breast lift surgery, so the cost of breast lift surgery varies. Rottman Plastic Surgery offers CareCredit® financing to our patients who need help with the cost of the procedure. To learn more, please visit our financing page.

Is a Breast Lift Right for Me?

Breast lift surgery is typically recommended for women who have lost volume in their breasts as a result of pregnancy and weight loss. Breast lift surgery will not make your breasts larger like breast augmentation does. The size of your breasts will be limited to the amount of natural breast tissue.

Why Choose Dr. Steven J. Rottman for a Breast Lift?

Many women believe that their breast shape can only be improved with implants. As a result, women undergo breast augmentation surgery and are unhappy with having larger breasts. Dr. Rottman approaches breast surgery by discussing your concerns with your appearance. Through his experience with many women in your situation, you can be confident that breast lift surgery is right for you.
