Facial Surgery in Baltimore, MD

Your face is where people see your bright smile, sparkling eyes, and dimples. Unfortunately, it is also where the signs of aging, imperfections, and injuries are most apparent as well. How Is Facial Surgery Performed?

Dr. Rottman recognizes the importance of minimizing scarring without sacrificing patient satisfaction. While incision placement depends greatly on the specific procedure, Dr. Rottman commonly places the incisions where scarring is least visible. He also takes great care when removing tissue to ensure you have a natural, yet younger, appearance.

Preparing for Facial Surgery

Patients who are considering facial surgery should be in good health. If you smoke, we recommend that you stop completely or, at a minimum, for two weeks prior to your surgery. The effects of smoking increase your risks during surgery and also slow the healing process.

You will need some basic care at home after your surgery. A friend or family member is all that is required – you do not need to arrange for a nurse or other specialized medical professional.

Recovery from Facial Surgery

After your surgery, you will feel tired. As the anesthesia wears off, you may feel more alert, but discomfort may be more obvious. You will also have swelling and bruising.

You will need to take time off from work and refrain from your other normal activities until you are cleared by Dr. Rottman. Even when you are cleared for basic activities, you will still need to avoid strenuous activities and exercise for a few weeks or longer.

How Much Does Facial Surgery Cost?

Your medical insurance does not cover elective procedures such as facial surgery unless the procedure is medically indicated. You are responsible for the balance of your account. Should you need financing, we work closely with CareCredit®. To learn more, please visit our financing page.

Is Facial Surgery Right for Me?

In some cases, Dr. Rottman may recommend less invasive anti-aging treatments, such as dermal fillers and chemical peels. If facial surgery is recommended by Dr. Rottman, he will order some preliminary tests to verify that you are medically stable enough for general anesthesia.

Why Choose Dr. Steven J. Rottman for Facial Surgery?

As an experienced cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon, Dr. Rottman specializes in facial surgery to correct or enhance your facial features. Facial surgery requires an intimate knowledge of the delicate structures of the face, including bones, nerves, sinuses, and muscles. Choosing Dr. Rottman as your facial plastic surgeon means you can feel confident about the results of the surgery.

What to Expect During Your Facial Surgery Consultation

One of the most surprising aspects of a facial surgery consultation with Dr. Rottman is that he may recommend a procedure for a different part of your face. You may believe that your eyelids cause you to look tired, but in reality the lax muscles on your forehead are the problem. Perhaps you feel that your nose is too big, but instead Dr. Rottman explains that your chin is too small. These are just some examples of how a personal consultation helps you know what facial surgery procedures are truly right for you.
